Every year we come across unusual parcels of fruit that sit outside our normal range. These parcels contribute to our alternative wines range. This year, these wines will include the EB (Experimental Batch) range, my Austrian wines which I made whilst working in Austria and some others including the King Valley Barbera.
2007 Pinot Noir Rose Yarra Valley
2005 Barbera - King Valley
2005 Shiraz - Moonambel (Pyrenees)
EB Range
The EB (Experimental Batch) range of wines are made outside our normal ranges and reflect the on going efforts to consider new parcels of fruit or to trial new practices in the winery. These wines are all significantly individual to warrant being part of the EB range.
2005 EB1 Pinot Noir (Yarra Valley)
2007 EB2 Chardonnay (Strathbogie Ranges)
Austrian Range
Having worked in Austria since 2004, I thought it was time I made some wine for myself. Both the Gruner Veltliner and Blaufrankisch hail from the region of Carnuntum just 35Km south east of Vienna. Both are gorgeous wines that display their unique character. Gruner is a wonderful variety which I am currently arranging to be brought into the country. It has a wonder range of expressions from tight and mineral to generous and full bodied. All dependant on site and picking- dates. Blaufrankisch can be softly perfumed or well structured like a northern Italian red. But the purity being expressed from slightly cooler sites provides the greatest appeal in my opinion.
