This wine is a blend of two vineyards located in Steels Creek and Yarra Glen and avoids the broader baked characters that I feel are becoming more and more common with later picking times. A portion of the fruit underwent pigeage (foot stomping) and I now see the wine settling down showing a blend of attractive dark red fruits as well as some spicy complexity. Clearly in the Style of the other Yarra Pinots. Bottled Feb, 07. (Drink now- 2015).
- Lively pale brick red/plum/cherry. Good clarity.
- Sour cherry with cinnamon and spice fruit compote. Notes of cedar, herbs and spice and cherry. Fresh rhubarb.
- The palate is tight and focussed with good length and freshness. Fine tannin builds on mid palate and carries through on finish.
352 cases of the 2006 Yarra Valley Pinot were produced.
